The week-long anti-drug operations of the police in Western Visayas has resulted in the apprehension of 98 drug suspects and the recovery of almost two kilos of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P13,226,000.
Of the arrested drug personalities from May 6 to 12, regional police spokesman PLt. Col. Arnel Solis reported that 18 were classified as high-value individuals, and 80 were tagged as street-level individuals, according to a report of the Police Regional Office 6.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office logged the highest number of arrested drug personalities at 34, while the Iloilo Police Provincial Office recorded the highest volume of confiscated shabu at 824 grams, following the apprehension of 23 suspects.
Solis said the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 also seized 430 grams of suspected shabu from six arrested persons, Iloilo City Police Office confiscated 375 grams from nine apprehended drug suspects, while NOCPPO recovered 121 grams from 34 apprehended drug personalities;
That Bacolod City Police Office logged 95 grams seized and 14 persons arrested; Guimaras PPO nabbed three suspects, which yielded 36 grams, Antique PPO seized 34 grams from two arrested individuals; Capiz PPO seized 28 grams from five arrested drug personalities; while Aklan PPO seized two grams of suspected shabu, from two other arrested drug suspects.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, commended the operating police personnel for another week of notable accomplishments.
“We have a good performance in our campaign against illegal drugs. Let’s keep an eye on the cohorts of the suspects we have arrested. If evidence warrants, they will be the subject of our next police operations,” Wanky said.*
