Bacolod Councilor Em Ang and visual artist Alessa Lanot led the opening of the group art exhibition staged by the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AAB-N) at the Northwing of SM City-Bacolod Friday.
They were joined by SM-Bacolod mall manager George Jardiolin, AAB-N treasurer Patty Jane Ong and AAB past president Dolly Gatuslao.
The show, which runs until August 18, kicks-off the AAB-N golden anniversary celebration on July 2025 titled “Balik AAB-N Celebration”, Tey Sevilleno, the club’s president, said.
It features more than 80 pieces of artworks done by about 60 members of AAB-N with the theme “Everything Negros”, she added.
Meanwhile, Ang said the city government though the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on History, Arts and Culture, which she chairs, will always be supportive of the local talents that are available in Bacolod.
“I hope we could have more events such as these that will cultivate and inspire more local artists to be even more active in the art scene, Ang added.
Sevilleno said the association will be involved in this year’s MassKara Festival celebration to help out in the competition segment. She also thanked the city government led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for acknowledging AAB-N’s contribution to the city as founders of the festival.
AAB-N honorary member Mike Pillora of the legendary group ASIN and visual artist Agustin Chavez provided musical entertainment during the opening of the group exhibit.*
