An abandoned temporary camp of New People’s Army remnants was discovered on Tuesday by patrolling Army soldiers in the hinterlands of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

1Lt. Dan Carlo Somoza, 79th Infantry Battalion Civil Military Operations chief, disclosed on Wednesday that the discovery of the rebel camp also resulted to the recovery of war materials, including a magazine of an M16 rifle containing 30 ammunition, two backpacks, two cellular phones and its accessories, two hammocks, a flashlight with charger, assorted medical paraphernalia, personal belongings, and subversive documents.

Somoza said the focused military operations are currently ongoing, tracking down the rebel remnants in northern Negros.*
