There was no abduction and rape of a 23-year-old woman in Bacolod City.
PLt. Arlyn Torrendon, Women and Children Protection Desk chief of the Bacolod City Police Office, made the declaration following an interview with the supposed victim, who admitted that she fabricated it in order to “express her feelings and to be understood” by her family.
Torrendon said their investigations showed that the woman had been experiencing problems with her family.
In radio interviews, the victim alleged she was molested by the suspects on Thursday, in a subdivision in Bacolod City, after being abducted.
The medical examination of the woman at the City Health Office showed that she had a hematoma, which Torrendon said was self-inflicted.
She added that woman refused their offer to stay under their custody for counseling and other types of treatment, as they also consider her a “victim”.
While creating a scenario that will affect the peace and order situation is a criminal offense, Torrendon said the woman may not be held liable for perjury since she did not execute sworn affidavits to formalize her complaints.
Torrendon also advised parents and guardians to closely monitor, and listen to the activities of their children.
She considered the particular case “closed.”*
