ACCESS lauds lower power rates for March

The decrease in the electricity rates of Negros Power for the month of March 2025 amounting to P 0.67711 is a welcome development, Wennie Sancho, president of the Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Social Services (ACCESS), said in a statement.

This means more affordable power helping to ease financial burden and put savings in the hands of the households, he said.

The “Trickle-down effect” of this reduction would likely be felt across by the various sectors. Lower electricity bills will give consumers more disposable income which can be allocated to other essential expenses or savings. A decrease in monthly electric bills can help alleviate financial burden on households and businesses, Sancho said.

Overall, the reduction in electricity rates by Negros Power will have a positive impact on both consumers and businesses. The decrease in monthly bills may be like a ripple in a pond, but the benefit of cost-savings will spread out positively and will have a positive impact on many people. Negros Power reduced electricity rates, these savings will trickle down or the benefits will flow down to smaller businesses, households and individuals, he said.

The rate reduction will provide significant relief to low-income households who spend a larger portion of their income on basic necessities like electricity. It will also strengthen the purchasing power of the workers that will boost consumer spending which would stimulate economic growth in the Negros Island Region, Sancho added.*
