In line with its advocacy for electricity consumers, the Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Social Services (ACCESS), led by its president Wennie Sancho, lauded the “PaKAPe Program” recently launched by Negros Power in the barangay level.
Sancho stressed that reaching out to the grassroots is commendable because Negros Power is reaching out to the people rather the other way around. This program will foster dialogue and collaboration with barangay officials and residents signifying democratic participation of all stakeholders.
This will also serve as a venue for issues and concerns of the plight of all electricity consumers regardless of their economic status thereby strengthening cooperation in building positive relationship between the consumers and Negros Power. ACCESS officer’s and members expressed their support and cooperation for this program as it will pave the way for the successful implementation of Negros Powers” 5-year Development Plan.
Overall, the “PaKAPe Program” is a manifestation of Negros Powers’ commitment to promoting energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability in the communities it serves, the press release said.
Sancho, likewise, commended the leadership of Bailey Del Castillo of Negros Power for his efforts in the implementation of the community outreach program by engaging the consumers through “town hall meetings” that will increase their awareness about Negros Power”s services in order to enhance consumers engagement and participation.
ACCESS also noted that from an informal consultation conducted by the Consumers Information Network (CIN) of Power Watch Negros, there is an increase in the satisfaction ratings by the consumers on Negros Power’s performance as a distribution utility. The efforts of Negros Power to improve reliability, reduce outages, and enhance customer services have likely contributed to the growing acceptance by the consumers on the noble mission of Negros Power to serve the people.
Negros Power’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and outreach programs like “PaKAPe” have fostered positive relationship with the consumers. Negros Power had gained government recognitions by achieving local government support and acknowledgement of its contribution to economic development.
Regular updates, public forums and responsive customer services have built trust and strengthen public acceptance of Negros Power as a reliable distribution utility, let alone the selfless dedication of Negros Power linemen and women that inspired the consumers with their tireless devotion to duty, the statement concluded.*
