With more amenities and improved attractions now ready for exploration by guests of the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson disclosed on Thursday that many more developments are planned for the mountain resort dubbed as the “Environmental Wonderland of Negros Occidental.”
Lacson, accompanied by Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II and Board Member Andrew Montelibano, led the inauguration and blessing of the upgraded facilities of the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, including the wildlife and waterfalls trekking, river dipping, Garden Cafe and the power house.
Lacson described the activity as another milestone for Mambukal, one of the icons of tourism in Negros Occidental.
“For nearly a century, Mambukal has been more than just a destination—it has been a shared story of the Negrense people.”
“With initiatives like this, we continue to give new life to Mambukal – ensuring that it remains relevant, vibrant, and competitive in today’s landscape. Because in Negros Occidental, we do not preserve what we have – we build on it,” the governor said.
High-end villas with a bonfire camp at the center will soon be open for occupation by guests.
The provincial government of Negros Occidental is also setting up tree tents to further strengthen its eco-tourism attractions.
Trekking trails from the first to sixth waterfalls may soon be opened to the public.
Lacson further said that the provincial government continues to build on existing strengths, ensuring that the resort evolves while preserving its natural beauty and cultural significance. He also thanked partners, stakeholders, and tourism officers for their continued support, noting that their collaboration plays a key role in enhancing the resort’s offerings.
“This is only the beginning of many more developments, not just for Mambukal, but for the entire province. Together, let us continue to position Negros Occidental as a destination that offers not only beauty, but meaningful experiences,” Lacson said.*
