Negros Occidental now has an additional district engineering office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed on June 13 Republic Act No. 12002, creating the Negros Occidental Fifth District Engineering Office, located in San Carlos City. It will serve the cities of Escalante and San Carlos, and the municipalities of Toboso, Calatrava and Salvador Benedicto.
The DPWH district engineering office in Negros Occidental will receive funding from the national government’s annual budget, according to a statement issued by Malacañang.
The DPWH presently has three engineering districts in Negros Occidental, and one in Bacolod City.*
