The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has strongly debunked allegations on social media posts claiming divisions within the military organization.
Withdrawal of support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and shifting allegiance to Vice President Sara Duterte are fake news and disinformation, a statement from the AFP said.
President Marcos Jr. yesterday visited the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade headquarters in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, after attending inauguration of newly-established airport in Antique, and the inspection of a water treatment facility in Brgy. Salvacion, Murcia.
In a statement, the AFP also said that the political realignments, or senior officers backing a political personality, and claims of division within the military, form part of the disinformation campaign, which is designed to sow confusion, mistrust, and division – both within the ranks and among the Filipino people.
Let us be clear: the AFP remains united, professional, and non-partisan. Our loyalty is to the Constitution and the Filipino people—not to any political figure or agenda, it further stressed.
The AFP encouraged the public to be vigilant, verify information from credible and official sources, and refrain from sharing unverified content that only fuels division and instability.
