The search is now on for the incoming commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Visayas Command (VISCOM).
This is due to VISCOM commander Lt. Gen. Robert Dauz retirement from the military service on November 14.
VISCOM supervises the Army’s 3rd and 8th Infantry Divisions, Philippine Air Force and Navy stationed in the Visayas region.
On Nov. 8 and 9, Dauz rendered exit visits to the 3ID headed by Major Gen. Benedict Arevalo in Jamindan, Capiz, and 303rd Infantry Brigade led by Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
Dauz, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1988, praised the 303rd Infantry Brigade for their successful anti insurgency campaign in Negros Occidental that resulted in the dismantling of the Northern Negros Front and weakened the two guerilla fronts in central Negros.
He encouraged troops to continue their excellent HADR efforts by actively providing quick disaster-response in times of calamity and disaster.
In his speech during his visit at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz, Dauz took the chance to personally talk and bid farewell to 3ID personnel, whom he reminded to always be with the company of those who appreciate their efforts.
“You should always find yourself in the presence of those who appreciate your value,” the Army general said.
On the other hand, Maj. Gen. Arevalo lauded the dynamic leadership of Lt. Gen. Dauz in leading the soldiers in the Visayas area.
Arevalo also praised excellent leadership of Dauz, as he led the troops in responding to people’s needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, onslaught of typhoons and other threats in the Visayas area.
The change of command ceremony on Nov. 14 is expected to be presided over by AFP chief Lt. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro.
The successor of Dauz has not yet been determined yet as of this time.*
