The Bacolod City Mendicancy Management Division (BCMMD) and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) successfully facilitated the emergency hospitalization of a 33-year-old homeless individual yesterday, February 10.
BCMMD Program Coordinator Anjanette Servano reported that the mendicant, a longtime fixture near the public plaza, had been suffering from persistent bleeding for nearly a month.
The rescue was initiated following several public reports about the individual’s deteriorating condition and the visible health issues occurring on the roadside.
Before being admitted to the hospital, the patient was brought to the BAYS Center, where BCMMD and DRRMO EMS staff worked together to clean the individual and provide immediate hygiene care.
Once stabilized and prepared, the patient was admitted to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.
The city government is now coordinating with barangay officials to locate and reach out to the patient’s family to ensure long-term support.*
