A minor was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, due to the accidental firing of an air gun, as reported by his father, on Sunday, at Hacienda Dos Hermanos in Barangay Purisima, Manapla, Negros Occidental.
The 13-year-old victim, according to the Manapla police, succumbed to an injury in the head.
The victim’s father, a barangay kagawad, accompanied by his wife, surrendered an air gun, without pellets, to the Manapla Police Station after the incident.
Initial police investigations showed that the victim, who frequently plays with the airgun inside their house, based on the claim of his father, accidentally shot himself above his right eyebrow.
The victim was found by his sister inside their residence, with blood on his head, police said.
The parents of the victim, as reported by the police, believed that it was a case of accidental firing, and there was no foul play on his death. However, the Manapla police requested a post mortem examination on the cadaver of the victim.
On the same day, a 31-year-old woman identified only by the police as Kim, was found dead at Hacienda Nilo Lizares in Brgy. Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The lifeless body of the victim was found half naked, according to the Talisay City police.*
