Budget carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) is adding more flights to Bacolod City from hubs in Manila, Cebu, and Davao, starting October this year.
This was announced yesterday by Erwin Colcol, Cebu Pacific Corporate Communication Manager, during a roundtable discussion with Bacolod media.
From the 42 weekly flights for the Bacolod-Manila-Bacolod route in September, it will increase to 47 in October and November, while the number of Bacolod-Cebu-Bacolod weekly flights will also increase from 14 to 28 during the same period, Colcol said.
The Bacolod-Davao-Bacolod flights will also be increased from three to five, in the same period, he added.
As highly urbanized Bacolod gears up for the world renowned MassKara festivities in October, Colcol said Cebu Pacific is most likely to use bigger aircraft to accommodate more passengers.
Starting Oct. 27, Cebu Pacific will operate flights from Iloilo to Hong Kong four times a week, and Iloilo to Singapore flights to commence on November 25 this year, operating three times a week.
Asked on the possibility that there will be international flights at the Bacolod Silay Airport, Colcol said “it’s something that we hope to have in the future,” as Cebu Pacific is increasing its networks.
But right now, the focus is the restoration of international flights in Iloilo, he added.
Colcol also said that they are hoping to bring back the Bacolod to Clark flight, which was affected by a supply chain issue in previous years.
Cebu Pacific announced earlier that it had signed a binding Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus to purchase up to 152 aircraft.
The Gokongwei-led airline’s order is for up to 102 A321neo and 50 A320neo aircrafts.*
