The 2nd Mayor Rene Y. Gustilo Speed Quarter Close Battle Tournament-Operation Gyera sa Paseo 2 was staged in San Carlos City at the SJRI Field on July 2.
The Team San Carlos Airsoft Regiment Inc. (SCAR), in cooperation with the San Carlos City Tourism Office, facilitated the event and awarded the winners afterward.
Six airsoft groups participated in the tournament, namely the Dirty Dawgs, Dollosa.Delubio.Geopano.Vargas (D.D.G.V.), San Benito, Prosperidad Bunga, Vallehermoso, and SCAR.
The Dirty Dawgs won the title, followed by 1st runner-up D.D.G.V., San Benito as 2nd runner-up, and Prosperidad Bunga, was 3rd runner-up.
The San Benito received the Best in Time and Best Battle Dress Uniform awards, while the Prosperidad Bunga was the People’s Choice.
The champion team received P3,000; 1st runner-up, P2,000; and 3rd runner-up P1,000 plus trophies, while special awardees received trophies.
Glando Berjolano, Team SCAR vice president, said the game is aimed at promoting camaraderie among airsoft enthusiasts. He also urged everyone to visit San Carlos to join the airsoft tournament.
He thanked the local government unit of San Carlos, especially Mayor Renato Gustilo for the support and chance to host the tournament. He also shared how the game is played and safety tips on handling weapons and opponents.
Aimee Resuena and Alyssa Lorelei Jopillo, Team SCAR members, said that being a woman is not a hindrance to joining the sport, which can be used as a self-defense and promote physical fitness. They also encouraged other women to join the sport.
During the game, the participating teams raced to get to the first flag to unlock the specialist, and the first specialist to raise the flag won.*
