Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez remains tight-lipped over the barangay captain he will be supporting to be the president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Bacolod City.
While he refused to name names, Benitez merely said it will be someone “with experience.”
Considered as frontrunners for the post of Liga president are former councilor and now barangay captain Caesar Distrito of Singcang-Airport; newbie and stepdaughter of incumbent Rep. Greg Gasataya, Franz Tionko of Brgy. Mansilingan; daughter-in-law of Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Tanya Familiaran of Brgy. 13; as well as incumbent Liga president Bles Gonzales of Brgy. Taculing.
Benitez, who attended the turnover rites of P300 million worth of farm equipment to small sugarcane farmers at the SRA Compound in Bacolod City on November 18, said he has asked the barangay captains to choose a leader who he can “work with easily and has a good working relationship with the city government.”
“The barangays will be partners with the city government in good governance at their levels,” he added.*
