Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez described his visit to China as an opportunity to make Bacolod City, known to them, noting that oftentimes, Chinese only know Manila and Boracay in the country.
“Only few here knew about Bacolod City,” Benitez, who was among the Philippine officials accompanying President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to his state visit in China, said.
He said that the state visit aims to bolster bilateral and economic ties between the Philippines and China.
In his Facebook account, Benitez said he is honored to be a part of the Philippine delegation to visit the People’s Republic of China.
He further said that the Philippine delegation, headed by the President and his wife, Liza, was warmly received by Chinese officials at the airport.
“The visit is an important step in continuing the strong relationship between the Philippines and China,” Benitez said.
The Bacolod City mayor said that the visit of President Marcos Jr. is an opportunity to meet and possibly bring in investors in the field of agriculture, tourism and renewable energy, not only into the country, but including Bacolod City, as well.
The Philippine delegation is expected to return to the country today.*
