The Negros Occidental provincial government is firming up partnerships through Memorandums of Agreement (MOA) for the Renewable Energy Week Expo 2025, themed “EveryJuan for R/E, R/E for Every Juan”, from July 17-19 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.
According to a press release, the Expo will gather key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, the academe, civil society, power consumers and local communities to explore renewable energy solutions and innovations. To be showcased are solar PV systems, battery storage options, electric vehicles/e-bikes, the lowdown on hydro-electric power plants, and even biogas generation and utilization, as well as energy efficiency and conservation measures.
It will also feature an interactive exhibit hall, keynote talks, educational forums, and networking sessions.
In partnership with the Department of Energy, the Negrosanon Initiative for Climate and the Environment (NICE), Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF), and event organizer TeamWorks, together with Exhibitors, forum participants and event sponsors, the Provincial Government will host what is expected to be a major clean energy event in the Visayas this year.
“Negros Occidental has been at the forefront of the clean energy movement, and this Expo reinforces our commitment,” disclosed Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
“Our multi-sectoral collaboration reflects our shared vision of a greener, more inclusive future for all Negrenses,” Lacson added.
Lauding the Provincial Government in putting together the 2nd Renewable Energy Week Expo, Joshua Villalobos, Secretary-General of NICE, said it is an important step toward strengthening local cooperation for a just and inclusive energy transition in the province.
“Empowering communities, especially women, to be part of the clean energy future is central to our mission,” said Suzette Gaston, executive director and co-founder of NWTF.
“Through this partnership, we can amplify those voices and ensure that climate action includes the people most affected,” Gaston added.
Former Negros Occidental Governor Rafael Coscolluela, the Provincial Consultant on Energy and Environmental Concerns, said “This initiative reflects our collaborative approach in forging a cleaner and power-secure future for Negrenses.”
“It shows how public and civil society actors can work together in pursuit of a common vision. And it’s not just to showcase technologies but to build long-term partnerships for sustainable development,” Coscolluela further said.
The event also garnered strong private sector backing, with Alsons Power Group as Platinum Sponsor, WeGen Energy Philippines and Energy Development Corporation as Gold Sponsors, and Negros Power Corporation as Silver Sponsor. Confirmed exhibitors include Yadea Marketing (waterproof e-bikes), Triumph/VCY Solar, ACEN (featuring Isla Sol and Saca Sol), Green Energy, Toyota Negros Occidental, and international firm Meineumwelt GmbH.
The R/E WEEK Expo was planned in coordination with the Department of Energy-Visayas Field Office, and is joined by the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Center (PEDIC), to ensure alignment with both national energy policy and local investment goals.*
