An alleged leader of the New People’s Army Yunit Militia was arrested by the police for illegal possession of firearms, on Saturday at Sitio Maglantay in Barangay Caradio-an Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
The arrest of the 29-year-old suspect, whose identity was withheld by the Himamaylan police, yielded an improvised 12-gauge shotgun with two ammunition, and a belt bag.
His apprehension was in relation to the search warrant issued by Himamaylan Regional Trial Court, which was implemented by the Himamaylan City police and the 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company.
The arrested suspect is allegedly the commanding officer of a Yunit Militia, a local guerilla unit under the supervision of the dismantled Mt. Cansermon Command.
On the other hand, a 46-year-old businessman was arrested by the police in Brgy. Lantad, Silay City, also on Saturday, for illegal possession of firearms.
The raid at the businessman’s residence, which was conducted by the police by virtue of a search warrant issued by the Silay Regional Trial Court, yielded a caliber .38 revolver with two ammunition, and two more ammunition for a caliber .45 pistol.
Meanwhile, the arrest of four drug suspects in separate buy bust operations on Saturday, in cities of Escalante, Cadiz, and Bago, yielded about 24 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P269,104, and eight ammunition for caliber .38 revolver and .45 pistol.*c
