Suspected members of the New People’s Army shot and killed a civilian in front of his family members on Thursday night, in Sitio Malipayon, Brgy. San Jose, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
The victim was identified by the Sipalay police as 52-year-old Raymundo Villanueva.
Shortly before midnight of May 5, a group of armed men claiming to be military men forcibly entered Villanueva’s home and shot him after they were refused entry into the house of the victim, police investigations show.
The victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, died on the spot, according to the police.
PMaj. James Latayon, Sipalay City officer-in-charge, said the armed men were looking for a carbine rifle of the victim.
Latayon also said that the victim was a relative of Ritching Villanueva, who was tagged as a leader of robbery hold up group.*
