Alleged scammer found dead in Talisay

The body of a man was discovered by farmworkers at Hacienda Otelia, Barangay Efigenio Lizares, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, at around 6 a.m. yesterday.

While not a resident of the area, the victim was tentatively identified by the alias ‘Jayvee’ and is from Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The victim, estimated to be 40 years old, was found with a stab wound in the abdomen and was wearing a black shirt, denim pants, and a white cap.

Tattoos were noted on his body, including a cross and the quote ‘Try and fail, But don’t fail to try…,’ on his right arm.

Evidence at the scene, including tire tracks and drag marks, suggests the body was abandoned at the location.

Talisay City Police Station stated that investigators have been dispatched to Bacolod to conduct a background check and perform backtracking investigation.

Police are also looking into allegations that the victim may have been involved in ‘rent-tangay’ (car rental-scam) activities in Bacolod.

Bacolod City Police Office spokesperson Capt. Dax Santillan said the victim has no other crimes or previous crime in the city as per the record of Police Station 7.

Social media posts have surfaced claiming that they were victimized by the man, who allegedly pawned vehicles that did not belong to him.*
