An American octogenarian was reported by the police to have drowned at a beach on August 28 at Barangay 2 in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
The 86-year-old American citizen, whose identity was withheld by the police, drowned after he was carried away by a strong current.
Initial police investigations showed that the victim, temporarily staying at Zayco Land Resort, and his American friend, who resides in Ilog town, went for a swim after eating lunch, when he drowned.
The victim was declared dead on arrival at the City Health Office in Sipalay, according to the police.*
