A 40-year-old American man killed his Filipina wife during a heated domestic dispute at around 4 p.m. on January 29 in Barangay Pinucauan, Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental.
Initial investigations conducted by the Vallehermoso Municipal Police Station (MPS) revealed that the suspect, identified as ‘John,’ had just arrived at their residence from Bacolod City when tensions erupted between him and his wife, ‘Norma,’ 36, inside their bedroom.
The altercation reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the suspect is believed to have assaulted the victim. According to police reports, he was armed with a bladed weapon.
The suspect allegedly used the weapon to stab Norma in various parts of her body. In addition, he broke a window jalousie and used the broken glass to inflict further injuries, including slashing her wrists.
The victim sustained 63 stab wounds across her body.
Neighbors, alarmed by the commotion, reported the incident to authorities. Police officers responded promptly and attempted to negotiate with the suspect; however, he initially resisted arrest.
Due to the urgency of the situation, law enforcement officers forcibly entered the bedroom, where they found Norma lying on the floor, unconscious and covered in her own blood. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect subsequently surrendered to the authorities and is now in custody. Further investigation is ongoing to determine appropriate charges and to facilitate proper disposition of the case.*
