Fr. Rayman Asoy officiated the blessing of the Don Mariano Ramos ancestral house in Burgos Street, Bacolod City on May 26, during the 80th birthday thanksgiving dinner tendered by Dolly Ramos-Gatuslao for family and friends.
Also present during the occasion, which coincided with the National Heritage Month being celebrated in the month of May, were members of the Negros Occidental Historical Commission, Netherlands Ambassador to Ireland Adriaan Palm, and former Bacolod councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr.
The Don Mariano Ramos ancestral house built in the 1930’s is a declared local heritage site by virtue of Resolution No. 1 of the Negros Occidental Heritage Council, Inc. It is the home of the late Mariano Ramos, one of the first appointed Presidente Municipals in Bacolod.
Gatuslao, a descendant of Don Mariano, is a past president of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AAB-N), the second longest running art association in the country next to the Art Association of the Philippines. She is the daughter of Dr. Romulo Ramos and Maria Luz Arceo.
She was joined by her husband Louie Gatuslao and their son Glenn during the celebration, along with Provincial Board Member Rita Gatuslao, and Francine Isabella Gatuslao.
Also present were their special guests from Manila, Engr. Jun Javalera and his wife Evie; Greg, Garrick and RG Dizon, Mimi and Eman Cena, Bimbo and Anne Panzo, Mel and Christian Bascon, Neil Divinagracia, Reeda Bantug, Aljo and Hally Arceo, members of the La Salle High School Batch 83, and members of the AAB-N and Feminine Touch artists which Dolly Gatuslao founded.*
