A 33-year-old man was taken into custody after hacking a person in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on January 27, in an incident sparked by the suspect’s reportedly angry and intimidating demeanor.
The victim, 44-year-old Ronald Banday, had initially confronted Christopher Amit, after feeling threatened by the latter’s aggressive behavior at a local fish stand in Paglaum Village.
As Banday attempted to leave on his motorcycle, he discovered Amit was armed with a bolo, prompting the victim to ram his vehicle into the stand.
In the ensuing struggle, Amit struck Banday in the back with the blade.
The victim is currently in stable condition at a nearby hospital, while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to Bacolod City Police Office Station 7 for documentation and proper legal disposition.
The victim is a resident of the same area, while the suspect is from Kabankalan City who temporarily resides at Hermilinda Homes, Brgy. Mansilingan.*
