To further ensure the protection and promotion of the welfare of all animals within the City of Bacolod, the Office of Councilor Celia Flor, together with the City Veterinary Office held a dialogue with barangay captains and animal welfare advocates to discuss and improve City Ordinance No. 1082, or the Animal Welfare Ordinance of Bacolod City at the Bacolod City Government Center, Thursday.
The committee meeting was presided by Flor, and attended by the City Veterinary Office Assistant City Veterinarian, Dr. John Michael Cabuguason, animal welfare advocates, and numerous barangay captains of the city, a press release from Bacolod PIO said.
The meeting highlighted the Animal Welfare Ordinance, addressing Sections 5, 6, and 9 wherein the city plans to establish an animal welfare desk in each barangay to cater cases of animal abuse and concerns, and also discussed the roles and protocols for the welfare desk.
During the meeting, the City Veterinary Office also shared its initiatives such as the Pet Registration and the Bacolod Animal Shelter in Barangay Granada that will soon start its construction.*
