An 8-year-old male in EB Magalona town suffered a serious injury to his eye due to a firecracker-related incident, while a vendor of firecrackers in Valladolid was apprehended by the authorities for illegal selling on Sunday, December 28.
A police report said that an 8-year-old kid was accidentally hit by a pebble from a firecracker blast, near his home at Hacienda Alacaygan, Barangay Alacaygan, EB Magalona on Sunday morning.
As a result, the victim incurred injuries to his right eye and was brought directly to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
Two firecracker-related injuries have been recently logged at La Carlota and Bago City, based on police reports.
Meanwhile, alias ‘Nemong,’ 59, from Purok Mainuswagon, Brgy. Sagua Banua, Valladolid was apprehended by the authorities for illegally selling firecrackers outside the designated zones.
Police said that the suspects violated the existing Municipal Ordinance No. 09 Series of 2025, otherwise known as the Municipality of Valladolid Firecracker and Pyrotechnics Devices Ordinance of 2025, where selling of firecrackers outside the designated zones was strictly prohibited.
Recovered from the suspect’s possession were 50 pieces of triangle, 2 pieces of whistle bomb, 5 pieces of shotgun, and 30 pieces of candle bomb.
The confiscated items were brought to the police station for proper disposition, while the suspect opted to pay a fine at the Municipal Treasurer’s Office.*
