• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Following the recent confiscation of P9.6 million worth of suspected shabu, operatives of the local Drug Enforcement Unit seized on Thursday another P6.8 million worth of illegal drugs from an arrested drug suspect at Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 12, Bacolod City.

Led by PLt. Col. Antonio Benitez, CDEU operatives nabbed Darrel Demafilez, alias Mar Mar, during a buy bust operation which yielded an estimated kilo of suspected shabu, with a market value of P6,800,000.

The prevailing price per gram of shabu is P6,800.

PCol. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City Police Office chief, said they have been doubling their efforts in the past several weeks, to prevent illegal drugs, which are supposed to proliferate during the MassKara festival, from reaching the streets.

Another anti-illegal drug operation at Purok Gumamela in Barangay San Juan, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, led to the arrest of a drug suspect on Wednesday.

The apprehension of a 39-year-old suspect, led to the confiscation of about 30 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P204,000.*
