Cadiz City in Negros Occidental is set to have another solar farm soon.
Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. disclosed that Aboitiz Power has already acquired property in Barangay Luna and an expansion area in Brgy. Mabini, Cadiz City.
Escalante disclosed that the power company will establish a 500 megawatt solar farm which construction will start either before the year ends or by early 2026.
The project, he claimed, is expected to bring in between P20 to P40 billion worth of economic activity to Cadiz City.
On the other hand, the 120 megawatt solar farm of SM Group of Companies is expected to be operationalized within the year.
Cadiz City presently hosts the 132.5 MW Helios Solar Power Plant in a 176 hectare lot in Brgy. Tinampaan, Cadiz City, dubbed as the largest solar power facility in Southeast Asia.
Negros Occidental has 264 MW of solar power generation, representing 69 percent of the Visayas grid’s solar capacity.*
