A 48-year-old male from Estancia, Iloilo was intercepted at the BREDCO Port in Bacolod City yesterday after the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was informed that he was positive for COVID-19.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, EOC deputy for medical and data analysis, said yesterday that they were informed by a biolab in Iloilo that the RT-PCR test result of the person travelling as Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) turned out positive for COVID-19. So, they tried to locate him and were able to intercept him at the port on his way back to Iloilo.

Sorongon said that since the 48-year-old man travelled as an APOR to renew his passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Bacolod, he was not required to present a negative RT-PCR test result. However, he underwent the test in a biolab in lloilo prior to his travel to Bacolod City.

They have coordinated with the DFA and have checked the APOR’s backtrack history and also went to Felisa where he visited relatives to contact trace everyone he came into contact with, he said.

Sorongon said the APOR is now confined in a quarantine facility in Bacolod City*
