A 47-year-old man, known by the alias ‘Emer,’ was arrested on the afternoon of March 1 after allegedly setting fire to his own home in Purok Kawayan, Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental.
Police responded to the scene at approximately 2:20 p.m., following reports of an armed individual creating an alarm and scandal in the neighborhood.
Upon arrival, authorities apprehended the suspect outside the burning residence, where he was found in possession of a .38 caliber revolver loaded with six rounds of ammunition.
The suspect’s 40-year-old wife was identified as the victim of the incident, though no immediate injuries were reported following the fire.
He is currently detained at the Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges related to arson and illegal possession of firearms.*
