A joint operation by Army soldiers and policemen yesterday led to the recovery of war materials and medical supplies, buried underground in Sitio Makilo, Brgy. Camansi, Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental.
1Lt. Charmaine Sancho, 47th Infantry Battalion Civil Military Operations officer, disclosed on Monday that the discovery was made as the result of information provided to them by a civilian in the area.
The joint operation of the 47IB, 15th Infantry Battalion, and 604th Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 resulted in the recovery of a caliber .357 Magnum revolver, a homemade 12-gauge shotgun with three ammunition, a fragmentation grenade, improvised explosive devices, 205 ammunition of M16 assault rifle, assorted medical supplies, and subversive documents, which were buried underground.
In a statement, Lt. Col. Magno Mapalad, 47IB commanding officer, lauded the bravery of the residents in the area for providing them with the information that led to the recovery of war materials and medical supplies.*
