Army chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. is all praises for the accomplishments of 3rd Infantry Division in Visayas, especially the 303rd Infantry Brigade in Negros Island.
Brawner, who yesterday led the conferment of awards to the 303rd Infantry Brigade and its infantry units – 94th Infantry Battalion, 79th Infantry Battalion, 62nd Infantry Battalion and 33rd Division Reconnaissance Company of 3ID in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia expressed his elation over their accomplishments in Negros Island.
The Army chief said he is happy to note that they are hitting their target in terms of dismantling NPA guerilla fronts all over the country.
Brawner, who also attended the Philippine Army Multi Sector Adviser Group summit at SMX in Bacolod City, congratulated the 3ID under the leadership of Maj. Gen Benedict Arevalo, for earning the top score in the entire country.
At the same time, he also lauded the leadership of Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade, for being the top scorer in the entire 3ID.
The CGPA Major Engagement and Significant Accomplishment Streamer Awards were personally received by Brig. Gen. Pasaporte; Lt.Col. William Pesase Jr., 62IB commander, Lt.Col. J-Jay Javines, 79IB commander, Lt.Col. Van Donald Almonte, 94IB chief, 1Lt Roel Duran, 33rd DRC commanding officer, from Brawner during the awarding rites at Camp Gerona in Murcia, also attended by Maj. Gen. Arevalo.
In the last few years, we have had a lot of guerilla fronts dismantled and we shall continue so that by the end of the year, we will reach our goals and our enemy will be insignificant in society, Brawner told 303IB soldiers.
In Negros Island, the Northern and South East Fronts of the Komiteng Rehiyonal Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor (KR-NCBS) have been declared as “dismantled” by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and consider the Central Negros 1 and 2 guerilla fronts as “weakened”.
From March to October this year, the 303IB infantry units managed to neutralize several top leaders of the KR-NCBS, including its regional commander, Romeo Nanta, and the recovery of 11 high powered firearms, including an M60 machine gun, among other war materials, military records show.
Brawner urged the NPA remnants in Negros to surrender.
“We believe, that with proper information and delivery of basic services. They will change their minds and return to the folds of law.” he said.
Pasaporte said “We will remain focused on sustaining the momentum in capacitating the 303rd Brigade towards greater mission effectiveness. We will live up to our brand – of Honor, Patriotism, and Duty.”*
