A soldier was apprehended by the police on Saturday, by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of homicide, at the headquarters of 15th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Tiling, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Arrested was SSgt. Charlemagne Nabejet, a member of the 15IB, who was charged with homicide, in connection with the death of his colleague, Cpl. Arnold Sumaribus, of Iloilo City.
The shooting incident took place inside a military outpost in Sitio Barasbarasan, Barangay Manlucahoc, Sipalay City, on November 25 last year, where the two soldiers reportedly figured in a spat during a birthday celebration of a fellow trooper.
The Sipalay Regional Trial Court recommended a bail of P120,000 for Nabejet, of Lanao del Norte, who is now under the custody of the Sipalay City Police Station.
Brig. Gen. Joey Escanillas, commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade, disclosed earlier that Nabejet faces administrative sanctions that may lead to dismissal from the military service, aside from his criminal liability.*
