The vaccination roll out for Army soldiers stationed in Western and Central Visayas started on March 15 at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz, with Maj. Gen. Eric Vinoya, 3rd Infantry Division commander, was the first inoculations with the Sinovac vaccine.
Maj. Cenon Pancito III, 3ID spokesperson, said yesterday that 3ID initially got 1,200 vials of Sinovac vaccines.
Pancito said Maj. Gen. Vinoya led the 3ID troops for the inoculation with Sinovac vaccines to boost the confidence of his men stationed in Negros, Panay and Bohol.
It was followed by other officers and enlisted personnel of 3ID assigned at the hospital, control points, and quarantine areas led by Major Alexander Zapanta, who is the commanding officer of Camp Peralta Station Hospital.
Lt. Gen Roberto Ancan, commander of the AFP Central Command based on Cebu City, who witnessed the ceremonial vaccination activity, thanked all the medical staff and personnel of Camp Peralta Station Hospital for their significant contribution during this time of pandemic.
Ancan also advised all 3ID troopers to continue practicing minimum standards of health protocols after being vaccinated.
Vinoya meanwhile, said that the 3ID troops had the privilege of being one of the first recipients of the Covid-19 vaccines available to the country.*
