Arrest awaits Bacolod gun attack survivor

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Chief PCol. Eugene Rebadomia confirmed that a pending warrant of arrest for robbery is awaiting the survivor of a shooting incident that occurred last February 12 in front of a mall along Gatuslao Street in Barangay 9.

The victim, identified as alias ‘Noknok’, who is currently in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a hospital, has been identified by authorities as a suspect in multiple criminal activities.

Rebadomia said the victim has been utilizing various names that differ significantly from the official Philippine Statistics Authority records provided by his sibling.

After the shooting incident, two .38 caliber firearms were recovered from the possession of the victims, which were sent to the regional forensics unit for ballistic examination to see if they are linked to other shootings in Bacolod or Negros Occidental.

Further verification revealed that the motorcycle used by the victims is registered in Panay Island, and authorities are currently verifying if the vehicle was stolen before being transported to Bacolod.

Police are currently looking into double crossing as the main motive of the attack, suggesting the incident may be rooted in a conflict between opposing groups.

While the victim continues to undergo medical treatment, law enforcement officers are stationed to ensure security and the eventual service of the legal documents once he is medically cleared.

Meanwhile, investigators are currently backtracking the movement of suspects of the shooting incident, though they have yet to definitively confirm a riding-in-tandem setup as the requested CCTV footage requires further enhancement.*
