What constitutes a family in today’s times?
Seventeen artists from Negros Occidental attempt to answer this question through a multimedia visual art exhibition titled “Modern Negrense Family” at the Orange Project, Art District in Bacolod City which opened Saturday and will run until July 30, a press release from the organizers said.
With ages ranging from 20’s to 80’s, this diverse group of artists represents three generations of Negrense family life, thereby conveying through their artworks perspectives and ideas about family very much informed by their locality, culture, and circumstances, it said.
Curated by Georgina Luisa Jocson of Off Center Creative Initiatives, the exhibit features the works of Rafael Paderna, Rodney Martinez, Perry Argel, Angela Silva; Roedil “Joe” Geraldo, Revo Yanson, Neil Benavente, Darel Javier; Olive Gloria, Frelan “Pakz” Gonzaga, Moreen Austria, Michael John “Mikiboy” Pama; Guenivere Decena, Erika Mayo, Brandon Braza, Vincent Sarnate, and Ann Gaurana.
Comprising all-new works, the collection of paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, mixed media works, and installations will occupy the main gallery of Orange Project (Bacolod), the premier art gallery in Negros Occidental.*
