The Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AABN), one of the country’s longest-running art associations, announced the launch of its latest exhibition, “Arte Negrense: FORMA,” in commemoration of National Arts Month.
The exhibit will open at the recently opened Calle Catorce, located along Lacson Street, Bacolod City on February 22.
Renowned for its commitment to showcasing the vibrant local artscape, AABN’s Arte Negrense project partners with iconic establishments, bringing art closer to the community and visiting tourists. The exhibit marks their second collaboration with Calle Catorce, a transformed family home now serving as a modern restaurant and bar.
“FORMA” is set to be a visually stunning display, spotlighting the groundbreaking works of AABN’s founding father, Edgardo “Budot” Lizares, and founding member Larry Tronco, recognized as forerunners of abstract art in Negros. The families of these late artists will also generously loan some of their masterpieces to the association, in honor of AABN’s upcoming 50th anniversary in 2025.
The exhibit will also feature 22 Negrense artists from the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros, presenting a diverse array of abstract expressions. Among them are artists Rodney Martinez, Edbon Sevilleno, Fred Orig, Revo Yanson, Lloyd Tronco, and Natalio Alob Jr.
Women artists will command attention with their stylized artworks, including AABN president Tey Sevilleno, mosaic artist and watercolorist Gigi Campos, designer Manon Hernaez, Pinky Fuentebella-Lizares, Jenn Abeto, Konica Faustino, Princy Martir, and Fe Sumagaysay.
The showcase will also extend beyond traditional mediums, with Negrense artists Sol Alejandrino, Jaycee Seran, Noah Sian, Ryn Paul Gonzales, and Beto Tiano exhibiting an array of works spanning enamel on glass, watercolors, and acrylics. Additionally, AABN warmly welcomes new members Annabelle Apawan, Merle Alova, and Mei Lonasco, who will contribute their unique perspectives.
“FORMA” at Calle Catorce will open until May 31. More information on the exhibit is available through AABN via email at aabnegros50@gmail.com or their social media: OfficialAABNegros on Facebook and artbacolodnegros on Instagram.*
