• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Seven assorted firearms with ammunition and more than P550,000 worth of suspected shabu were confiscated by the police from 11 suspects who were arrested on August 16,17 and 18, in a series of police operations in Negros Occidental.

About 55 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of 374,000, was confiscated by the police from a security guard and a woman whose identities were withheld by the police, during a buy bust operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit operatives on Sunday at Purok Nami Nami in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City.

The police also recovered a homemade gun with three rounds of ammunition during the buy bust operation.

The police operations, including the implementation of search warrants, in Isabel and La Castellana, as well as Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, led to the confiscation of two Colt MKIV pistols with three magazines containing 11 ammunition, three caliber .38 revolvers, two 12-gauge homemade shotguns with three  bullets, and two .22 caliber revolvers with 52 ammunition.

The three arrested suspects, whose identities were withheld by the police, are now locked up in jail.

Aside from the unlicensed gun seized from the arrested drug suspect in Cadiz City, the police also seized an estimated 3.2 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P21,760.

The apprehension of four drug suspects in cities of Silay and Victorias also yielded 24 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P163,200, police said.

Four other drug suspects were collared by the police in Hinigaran, Sagay City, and Isabela, which led to the confiscation of 16 sachets of suspected shabu, and P1,500 in marked money.*
