Two outstanding Cadiznons received awards for the Governor’s Conservation Achievement (Individual Conservationist Category) and “Abanse Babaye para sa Dunang Manggad”, on Tuesday.
Mary Jean Tanaya of the Cotcot Upland Farmers and Farmworkers Association (CUFFA) was one of the recipients of the “Abanse Babaye para sa Dunang Manggad.” The award recognizes the role and achievements of Negrense women in environment protection.
Meanwhile, Carlito Matulac, chairperson of Purok Kakahuyan Small Fishermen Association, received the Governor’s Conservation Achievement Award that recognizes the contributions of special bodies, individuals, LGUs, and Inter-LGU alliances in Negros Occidental.
Spearheaded by the Provincial Environment Management Office, the awards aim to acknowledge the key role of outstanding Negrenses in environmental stewardship, leadership in decision-making, and the promotion of positive impact that they make in the conservation of the environment.
Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson and Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz led the awarding of winners, together with Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio, PEM Officer, at Negros Residences in Bacolod City.*
