Disaster relief assistance to 100 families were deployed in Barangay 8, Bacolod City and Zone 15 Talisay City this December 19-20 after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette. This initiative was spearheaded by the Alagang Ayala Land Program composed of the Ayala Group in Negros Occidental – Seda Capitol Central, Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Amaia Land Corp., and Ayala Land Inc.

In addition, Ayala Malls (Capitol Central and The District North Point) were used as temporary shelters for evacuated families during the landfall of Typhoon Odette last December 16.

Due to the inclement weather, both Ayala Malls in Capitol Central and The District North Point have opened their doors for customers to wait out the storm within their premises. Designated holding areas, restrooms, and free charging stations were provided. Meanwhile, overnight parking fees were waived on December 16 and 17 for users of the mall parking.

Charging stations within Ayala Malls Capitol Central and The District North Point remain available as areas within the city and province continue to experience power outages. For Capitol Central, charging ports can be found by the West Wing common areas, Fiesta Market columns, Food Choices, and the Co-Lab Coworking Space at the 4th Floor. For The District North Point, the charging station is located beside Asian Home Appliance.

As part of the Alagang Ayala Land initiative, the Ayala Malls chain is committed to focusing on people care, local community advocacies, and crisis assistance.

“Ayala Malls Capitol Central will always be a home for the people, both in times of joy and struggle. It is in our nature to offer disaster relief assistance to the communities where we are, may it be in the form of relief goods or even just a place where families can seek shelter at the onslaught of the typhoon. This, is Alagang Ayala Land,” stated Sharon Ciocon, Ayala Malls Capitol Central General Manager.

With this, Ayala Malls Capitol Central also set up donation drives and assistance efforts for Typhoon Odette victims. The mall continues to welcome help in kind, cash, and check.

“Let us all join hands and show our united efforts to help our fellow brothers and sisters in need. Our little actions will go a long way,” Ciocon added.*
