A group art exhibition featuring the works of five Negrense artists, all residents of Ayala North Point, is ongoing at the subdivision’s clubhouse in Talisay until July 2025.
The exhibit, which opened last December 7, showcases the works of Maria Brenda Tenk, Charlie Co, Ed Ramos, Suklin Chang Pena, and Therese Jomalesa in watercolor, oil, acrylic and other medium.
Their objective in staging an art exhibition is to create awareness that there is a hub for artists living in Ayala North Point, to help develop and encourage children and the youth in their village about art appreciation, as well as encourage the seniors to appreciate art through lectures and demonstrations or workshops.
Tenk uses watercolor to express her unique style as shown in her paintings of local scenes of farmers planting rice, or of chicken or carabao grazing, and in her jeepney or fish series. She has also participated in international exhibitions which helped hone her talent to be at par with talented artists abroad.
Co is a multi-awarded contemporary visual artist who co-founded Orange Gallery with Victor Benjamin Lopue as a venue for young contemporary artists and curators, while Ramos is a graduate of B.S. Mechanical Engineering, who had worked with foreign principals from Europe, USA, and China to serve the needs of the country’s geothermal energy projects. He won first honorable mention in the 57th Annual Art Competition of the Art Association of the Philippines in 2007.
Pena creates landscapes and fauna paintings but is most known for her soulful floral and portrait works. She entered the Top 80 of the Spring Malaysia International Online Juried Art Competition for painting “Father and Son”.
Jomalesa started ATVH Art Studio in 2011 where she taught children how to paint, while having local exhibits in between works. She started to paint in 2010 under Negrense artist Pie Saturnino. To expand her knowledge, she attended workshops in Maryland, USA for landscape and modern art using acrylics under Donna Baron, as well as creative colors in water colors, printmaking, and modern painting, under Julia Starling.*
