Bacolod Arts, Cultural and Heritage Inc. (BACHI) joined the colorful and spirited Chinese New Year celebration at the Fo Guang Shan Yuan Thong Temple in Bacolod City, highlighting its advocacy of fostering community engagement and honoring cultural influences that shape Filipino identity.
The celebration featured a diverse array of artistic and culinary showcases, including a vegan cooking demonstration by Sandy Solinap, president of BACHI and flexitarian chef; calligraphy painting by Kyle Jocson; plant art by James Yamzon; handmade crafts, watercolor paintings and accessories by Princy Martir, Patti Bendanillo and Maria Isabel; and vegetarian dishes prepared by Revo and Leny Yanson.
Together, these offerings created a rich tapestry of art, culture and heritage, while the group also immersed themselves in Chinese traditions and practices that have long influenced and become part of modern Filipino identity.
“This collaboration reflects our mission to strengthen community ties and celebrate the diverse cultural roots that shape who we are as Filipinos,” said Solinap. “It was a day of learning, sharing and honoring heritage.”
The event provided a meaningful opportunity for exchange and understanding, highlighting the enduring connections between Chinese and Filipino traditions and the value of cultural dialogue in community life.*
