A 58-year-old backhoe operator was shot dead in front of his wife by a motorcycle-riding assailant in Purok Santan, Barangay Abuanan, Bago City, on April 30.
The victim, identified as alias ‘Ivar,’ was sitting outside his home with his spouse around 3:00 p.m. when a gunman on a red PCX motorcycle arrived and opened fire, hitting him five times.
The suspect, who was wearing a helmet, fled in an unknown direction.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Bago City Police Chief PLt. Col. James Latayon Jr. said investigators are currently backtracking to identify the shooter and a potential lookout who may have assisted in the crime.
He noted that the victim had no known enemies or criminal record.
Police recovered several spent shells from a .45 caliber pistol at the scene.*
