The five competing contingents that participated in the BacoLaodiat Lantern Dance Competition on January 21 were Carlos Hilado Memorial State University-Alijis, Choi Force, Jojaju, Wild Rhythm and Granadianz.

The lantern groups started with a street dance from The Upper East going to the Bacolod City Government Center, and then proceeded to hold their arena performances.

The top 3, namely Jojaju, Granadianz and CHMSU Alijis, were announced before midnight and are scheduled to hold repeat performances the following day at SM City Bacolod, where the winners will also be announced there.

The Granadianz bagged the Megaworld Choice Award and won P10,000 in cash.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Victorias City Mayor Javi Benitez, along with Bacolod City officials and BacoLaodiat Inc. board members attended the traditional ringing of the bell at the Yuan Thong Temple where devotees and festival goers participated in the Dharma prayers and other temple activities.

A simultaneous countdown to usher in the Lunar New Year was also held at The Upper East and the Bacolod City Government Center, where the fireworks display dubbed a “Symphony of Lights and Sparks” attracted crowds.*
