The BacoLaodiat Festival kicked off its Temple Design Contest on January 29 at Megaworld The Upper East, featuring five participants with creative designs, attended by Bacolaodiat Inc. Board Members and Megaworld Executives.
The Temple Design Contest is a cultural competition where participants create miniature temples inspired by traditional Chinese architecture, symbolizing prosperity, unity, and heritage, while showcasing creativity and celebrating Bacolod’s Chinese-Filipino traditions.
First Vice President for Sales and Marketing of Megaworld Bacolod Jennifer Ann P. Fong led the opening ceremony, highlighting the strong collaboration between BacoLaodiat Inc. and Megaworld.
The competition was judged by a distinguished panel of three experts, who determined the winning design based on architecture, creativity, and craftsmanship. Festival-goers can explore the miniature temple models throughout February 2025 at Megaworld The Upper East, providing an immersive experience into the artistic interpretations of Chinese traditions.
The event featured a ceremonial switch-on of the Temples and Megaworld Lanterns, and continued with a grand fireworks show, a beautiful display of colors and lights.
To conclude the evening, BacoLaodiat board members and Megaworld executives gathered for the Wishing Well Ceremony, a meaningful tradition that signifies hope, unity, and aspirations for the year ahead.
The Temple Design Contest not only serves as a platform for local artists to showcase their talents but also strengthen the city’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its Chinese-Filipino heritage in the spirit of the Year of the Wood Snake at Megaworld The Upper East throughout February.
Meanwhile, Teleperformance has set up a booth at the BacoLaodiat Festival along Lacson Street (in front of Seda Hotel) from Friday up to February 2.*
