Bacoleño elected PCGA national director

The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary held its 38th National Convention and 51st PCGA Anniversary at Nasugbu Batangas, yesterday. 

Among the highlights of the affair included the election of the National Director position, where Aux. Rear Admiral Jorge Lim was elected to the position of National Director, promoting him to the rank of Auxiliary Vice Admiral.

Holding the highest position within the organization, he will lead the 32,000-strong men and women, that compose the PCG’s civilian volunteer arm. The Auxiliary offers their time, talent and treasure to helping save lives and properties, preserving the Philippine rich marine resource. PCGA officers and members serve as PCG’s force multipliers in various parts of the country, assisting the Philippine Coast Guard in search and rescue missions, particularly during the typhoon season; promoting the maintenance of aids in navigation; and participating in humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations.  United as one, the PCGA affirms its commitment to serve the Philippine Coast Guard and the nation.

VAdm Lim hails from Bacolod City, in the sugar-rich province of Negros Occidental. VAdm Lim is a long-time leader of the Philippine Red Cross – from a director of the PRC-Bacolod, to its elected Board of Governors.

He also served as the youngest Chapter President of Bacolod Jaycees at the age of 22. On that same year, as the host President of the 38th Philippine Jaycee National Convention in Bacolod City, he successfully organized the biggest NATCON with 3,996 registered delegates in the history of the Philippine Jaycees.

He continued to serve the Philippine Jaycees as a Senator, National Executive Vice President, and the National President of the JCI Senate.  Lim also served as Vice President of the Northern Negros Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and is also a Bacolod City Banwahanon Awardee, the most prestigious award the city gives to admirable citizens.

Lim rose from the ranks of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, from Lieutenant Commander of the 602.12 Sea Hawk Division in 2011, to Division Director of 607th PCGA Squadron in 2013, Commander of 607th Squadron in 2013, promoted to Captain in 2014; promoted to Commodore in 2016, District Auxiliary Director in 2017, promoted to Rear Admiral as Deputy National Director for NAMO Admin in 2018. He presently holds the highest position in the organization as the National Director for PCGA.
