Highly-urbanized Bacolod City and 12 Negros Occidental local government units remain under Alert Level 1 status from August 1 to 15, according to the Department of Health.

The DOH said Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental shall remain under Alert Level 2, “without prejudice to their respective component cities and municipalities which may be under a different alert level classification.”

Aside from Bacolod City, the 12 Negros Occidental LGUs under AL1 are municipalities of EB Magalona, Pulupandan, San Enrique, Candoni, Pontevedra, Valladolid, Ilog, as well as cities of Victorias, Sagay, La Carlota, Cadiz and Talisay.

DOH said these areas maintained their case classification and total bed utilization rates at “low risk” and have reached or neared the vaccination thresholds for the target population and target A2 (senior citizens) priority group.

As of July 31, Negros Occidental has 99 COVID-19 active cases.

“Our continued compliance with the minimum public health standards keeps us safe – wearing the best-fitting mask, isolating when sick, doubling up protection through vaccines and boosters, and ensuring good airflow,” said Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, DOH Officer-in-Charge, in a statement.*
