The Rotary Club of Bacolod launched the Art CAMP (Community Activity Mentorship Program) on October 5 at the Bacolod City Public Library with Instructor and Visual Artist Sony Golez, past president of Association of Artists of Bacolod-Negros and founder of the Silay United Guild of Artists or SUGA.
Now in its second year, the Art CAMP will bring 35 young poor students from ages 6 to 9 for the art classes that will span twelve sessions every Saturday.
Artworks completed for this session will be exhibited and proceeds will be given to the students from the underprivileged sector, to support their educational assistance.
Also joining were the children of fellow Rotarians who wanted to unlock their talents and capabilities in expressing themselves through art.
According to the press release, the Art CAMP Program is designed to address the two areas of Focus of Rotary International in supporting education and providing for local economies and a continuing project of the Rotary Club of Bacolod.*
