A resolution congratulating and commending Hanna Joy Sayam for winning the grand prize in the figurative category of the Sining Filipina Art Competition held at Taguig City last March 22, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said the Sining Art Competition is a women exclusive art competition organized by SM Supermalls, BDO Unibank, Inc., and the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs (ZCME), which provides a platform for women to express their unique perspectives and narratives through art.
This year’s competition is the inaugural event and received an overwhelming response with 732 entries coming from all ages from all over the country, it said.
In the figurative category of the said competition, Hanna Joy Sayam, a resident of Brgy. Banago bested 256 entries and won the grand prize through her artwork titled, “Pira-pirasong Tela ng mga Marias”, the resolution said.
Hanna, a 30-year-old independent artist and alumnus of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University, won the grand prize of P250,000 and the Sining Filipina trophy specially created by sculptor Charming Baldemor, it said.
Hanna’s accomplishment serves as proof that Bacolod City harbors numerous homegrown creatives capable of shining on both national and international stage, the resolution said.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod joins the entire city in congratulating and commending Hanna Joy Sayam for her remarkable achievement, it added.*
