Bacolod athletes’ dorm, soon to rise

Romanito Maravilla Sr. National High School, in collaboration with the Bacolod LGU and Wilkinson Construction, held the blessing and groundbreaking ceremony for the Athletes’ Dormitory at RMNHS in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City yesterday, a press release from Bacolod PIO said

The event featured a motorcade parade with athletes, starting at the Bacolod City Government Center going to Romanito Maravilla Sr. National High School.

The ceremony began with welcome remarks from Secondary School Principal Gladys Gerona, followed by a message from Mayor Albee Benitez.

In his speech, Benitez stated, “We are very proud of our athletes because we did very well in every competition that has been held both locally and internationally. These are the things that we would like to support and to give proper recognition for their training and development. This is also one way of taking care of our athletes who give recognition to our city.”

The project is estimated to cost P12.5 million pesos and is expected to be completed within 180 calendar days. The improved athletes’ dormitory can house an estimated 30 people.

Attendees included Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Councilors Celia Flor, Psyche Marie Sy, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Jason Villarosa, Em Ang, Cindy Rojas, Claudio Puentevella and Simplicia Distrito, Brgy. Captain of Brgy. Estefania Jerry Tingson, the benefactor Romanito Solinap, Romanito Maravilla National High School teachers, City Engineer’s Office, department heads with Rev. Fr. Amat Sagar Tirkey, blessing the ceremony and the land where the new athletes’ dormitory will stand.

Romanito Maravilla Sr. National High School, known as the “Home of Champions,” is recognized for having the most successful athletes.*
